Harvard University, the highest ranking university in the world and certainly the top for law, has acknowledged that a verse of the Holy Qur'an is one of the most greatest expressions of justice in history. Indeed the Qur'anic verse enjoins people to stand so firmly for the cause of justice, even if one has to stand witness over yourself or one's closest family or relatives. The full verse is presented below: "O ye who believe! be strict in observing justice, and be witnesses for Allah, even though it be against yourselves or against parents and kindred. Whether he be rich or poor, Allah is more regardful of them both than you are. Therefore follow not low desires so that you may be able to act equitably. And if you conceal the truth or evade it, then remember that Allah is well aware of what you do." (4:135) This verse displays the pinnacle of justice and exhorts believers to stand for the truth and to always be truthful in their testimonies. It then warns witnesses not to distort or refuse to give their testimonies as God is always aware of what a person thinks, feels and does and according to Islam, God is the one who will ultimately judge everyone on their actions so we should always act with justice and truth. As this news hasn't been reported in the mainstream media and typically never will be, I thought it necessary to post it here. In an era of fear and negativity towards Islam, this shows that Islam is not the 'evil', 'violent' religion that is often portrayed by the media, but rather this shows that Islam stands for the highest of moral principles and exhorts its followers to do the same. If the world would only follow this one sole teaching of the Qur'an, indeed the world would be freed from many troubles and it would lead the way to peace and prosperity for all. There can be no peace without justice and it is justice which truly can lead to peace and contentment in society. The quote as found on Harvard's official 'Words of Justice' page:
